National Train Day/Mother’s Day

On May 10, 1869, in Promontory Summit, Utah, the “golden spike” was driven into the final tie that joined 1,776 miles of the Central Pacific and Union Pacific railways, ceremonially creating the nation’s first transcontinental railroad. And America was transformed. Now 139 years later we are celebrating America’s 1st National Train Day this Saturday, May 10, 2008. Everyone who is a fan of trains (like my brother and nephew who are going lol) can go to their nearest largest Amtrak train station (i.e. Washington, DC’s Union Station, New York City’s Penn Station, Chicago’s Union Station and Los Angeles’ Union Station) or if you don’t live near one you can still participate in the fesitivities. Check out this link to see how – http://www.nationaltrainday.com/events-information
National Train Day is May 10

Also everyone, May 11, 2008 is Mother’s Day! Please don’t forget the woman who has brought you into this world and given you the best gift of all – life :). Show your appreciation, cook her dinner or take her out to a nice place, or simply don’t forget to remind her how much she means to you. For all the mothers reading this, have a very happy, safe, and blessed Mother’s Day!

Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs; since the payment is pure love.  ~Mildred B. Vermont

Happy Mother's Day!
